Un porte-monnaie gamaguchi de Kanmi, à Asakusa, le quartier du cuir de Tokyo, fabriqué dans un atelier qui ne fait que des porte-monnaie à fermoir. Il s'ouvre d'une pression du pouce et se referme d'un petit clic qu'on sent plus qu'on ne l'entend.

Un arbre est pressé dans le cuir d'un côté, l'autre est laissé nu, pour laisser le cuir parler de lui-même. À l'intérieur, une doublure tissée de couleur claire garde les petites choses en vue plutôt qu'égarées. La poignée en cuir amovible mesure environ 25 cm, si bien que le porte-monnaie se porte à la main ou s'attache à un sac.

Le cuir garde son grain et ses nuances, et s'assouplit et fonce là où votre main se pose le plus souvent.

Essuyez-le délicatement avec un chiffon doux et sec. Tenez-le à l'écart d'une humidité prolongée, de la chaleur directe et du plein soleil.
Ne le lavez pas et n'utilisez pas de produits ménagers. Le cuir s'assouplira et se nuancera naturellement avec l'usage.

À propos du créateur
Kanmi est né dans un atelier installé à la maison, à Asakusa, à Tokyo, un quartier lié depuis longtemps au travail du cuir. Depuis plus de 20 ans, l'atelier fabrique des objets en cuir pratiques, aux détails doux et reconnaissables, qui gagnent en caractère au fil de l'usage quotidien.
