Ferns, cornflowers, buttercups and one magenta hydrangea floret, laid across the cover in rows like specimens on a sheet rather than an arrangement.

Dark thread fans across the top edge in spokes, holding the block together where you can watch it work. Lift the cover and the inside is printed too, so the plants carry on where only you will see them. The pages themselves are left plain.
Material
Natural cotton paper cover, 220gsm, pigment-printed with folded edges. 44 folded pages of fine-grain cream paper, 90gsm, for writing and drawing. Bound by hand with exposed Japanese stitching.

Keep dry and away from direct sunlight. Handle with clean, dry hands. The exposed binding is part of the construction, so store flat and avoid pulling at the stitching.

About the maker
23janvier is the south-west France paper studio founded in 2013 by visual artist Marie-Charlotte. The atelier develops each piece from botanical study through printing and binding, with close attention to natural papers and plant form.
