The type is pressed into heavy paper on a letterpress in Brussels, where Le Typographe have designed and printed their own stationery since 2007. A honeycomb pattern is printed inside each envelope, kept back for the person opening it.

About the maker
Le Typographe is named after a small beetle that lives under spruce bark and carves tunnels that look like lines of writing. Cédric Chauvelot, who studied fine arts in Besançon, opened the first workshop in Brussels in 2007 with a single press and cases of lead and wood type. Today about ten people work in the Châtelain quarter of Brussels, among six Heidelberg presses and 800 cases of lead type, and the stationery has had its own corner at Le Bon Marché in Paris since 2015. Everything still goes through those presses one colour at a time and is finished by hand.
